Shakespeare in Action

A Performance Workshop - Ages 14-18

Shakespeare in Action is an interactive 4-hour theatre workshop centered around A Midsummer Night’s Dream.

Designed as a practical companion to the Shakespeare Crash Course, this workshop allows students to engage deeply with an entire play and experience Shakespeare through performance.

Together, we will explore the plot, characters, relationships, and emotional world of the play through engaging with theatre techniques for body, voice, movement, and stage presence. Through games, ensemble exercises, and scene work, we will bring Shakespeare’s language to life physically and emotionally, making the text accessible and engaging.

Shakespeare in Action is all about collaboration and creativity. Students work in pairs and groups to explore multiple scenes from the play, experimenting with character choices, emotions, and performance techniques before sharing their work with the class.

The workshop provides a supportive and confidence-building introduction to theatre performance that encourages students to connect with Shakespeare's text through action, imagination, and play.
