The Suitcase/Der Koffer
What?
In Belfast, a recently deceased old man called Leo Edelmann looks back on the horrors inflicted by the Nazis upon his native city of Berlin. While his daughter and granddaughter are clearing out his house they come across a battered suitcase, containing painful evidence of their family history. As the suitcase gives up its secrets, they uncover a bittersweet relationship between Leo and a young dancer called Galina Stein from Vienna.

Irish soprano Anne Marie is one of the founding members of Restless Ecstasy. She studied at the Conservatory of Music, Dublin, under the tutelage of Mary Brennan where she graduated with a Bachelor of Music Performance with First Class Honours, and received the Paul McNamara gold medal for excellence in performance. She completed her Masters in Voice at the Wales International Academy of Voice under the tutelage of Dennis O'Neill.
Roles include First Mother Dead Man Walking and Handmaiden Turandot (Opera Ireland), Fiordiligi Cosi fan tutte (Longborough Opera Festival on tour), Vitellia La Clemenza di Tito (Giornata Opera), La Contessa Le Nozze di Figaro (Zêzere Arts Festival), Helena A Midsummer Night's Dream (Co-Opera Co.), Angelica Suor Angelica (Hawaii Performing Arts Festival and Zêzere Arts Festival), Madame Silberklang Der Schausieldirektor and La Ciesca Gianni Schicchi (St. Paul's Summertime Opera), Mimi La Boheme (Verdandi Camerata), Frau Fluth Die Lustigen Weiber von Windsor (Lyric Opera Studio Weimar) and Violetta La Traviata (Mediterranean Opera Festival).
She was a prizewinner at the Ballymena Feisceoil and the Feis Ceoil and reached the semi-final of the Inaugural Elizabeth Connel Prize for Dramatic Sopranos.
Anne Marie recently made her acting debut in an adaptation of Charles Dickens' A Christmas Carol with Open House Theatre Vienna.

Robert studied musical theatre at Performing Arts Studios Vienna. After graduating, engagements took him to the Raimund Theater, Theater der Jugend, Opera Graz, Volkstheater and the off-theatre scene in Vienna, Berlin, Munich, Bolzano and Ljubljana. He’s been working as an author and director for the past few years, and one of his latest directorial endeavors took him to the renowned Volksbühne Berlin. Directing credits include The Right Job, The Turn of the Screw, A Christmas Carol; the Austrian premieres of The Timekeepers, Hypnosis, Brothers of Thunder, and Hochgeschätztes Tiefpar-terre, as well as the European Premiere of STRAIGHT last season. Robert’s next big project is the direction of the European premiere of The Suitcase/Der Koffer at Dschungel Wien next year in March. He is also Open House Theatre’s Joint Creative Director.
